Premium Grandmoulin Bread Knife, 240mm, Stainless, Fine Woods
R 4 720,00
The bread knife „Grandmoulin“ is made according to the principle of the „Solingen thin cut“ and is hand-pulled blue (special fine cut). The exceptionally wide blade has a very good straight cut, even if you want to cut very thin slices of bread. The curved swing of the cutting edge corresponds to the continuation of the natural rocking hand movement when cutting. The knife is equipped with a high-ground and hand-polished shaft. It thus features a serrated edge with outstanding edge retention and a long service life. It is incredibly sharp and suitable for soft and hard-crusted bread without crushing the cut. The handle, made of high-quality plum wood, fits comfortably in the hand and allows for fatigue-free work.
The "Grandmoulin" bread knife has received numerous awards for its outstanding design. Grandmoulin means windmill and belongs to the series „unique pieces from tradition“, a small assortment of knives with a special history, shape and traditional craftsmanship. The shape of the blade is called “Boscher”. This name is derived from the Dutch word "Bos", which means bush or bushland. It originated as a harvest knife right there, in the sugar cane fields of the Dutch colonies. At that time, however, it was considerably larger in keeping with its task.

This knife is fantastic. After a few bad purchases, I ordered this bread knife. It is expensive, but definitely worth the money. I also have other mill knives and they are just as sharp. The knife cuts through the bottom crust of the rustic loaves as if I were cutting through a block of butter. I am also very happy with the knife. Incidentally, it was well packaged and included a small bottle of maintenance oil for the beautiful wooden handle. I can recommend this product to everyone.
I have tried out (and owned) various bread knives, but this is in a league of its own. 1. Razor sharp! Seriously, no kidding. 2. Wide blade, so very easy to cut to the desired thickness. 3. Nice sharp tip for the crusts. 4. Beautiful craftsmanship from Germany.
Beautiful knife, cuts wonderfully. It costs a bit, but you get what you pay for. We are going to buy unsliced bread now. Nice box including 5 ml oil for the handle.
It is not a cheap knife, but it is incredible how you can effortlessly cut thin slices of bread half a centimeter thick with this bread knife!!!
A very good knife: It fits well in the hand and has an impressive shape. It has replaced my traditional bread slicer, but takes up far less space. The knife is unfortunately a bit pricey, and I hesitated for a long time before buying it, but how easily it cuts bread with a crust convinced me.
Super bread knife. I think the plum wood handle is cherry, which is also nice. Personally, I prefer beech (wonderfully warm and soft). The red beech bread knife is cheaper and surely just as sharp.
A really great bread knife; you place the knife on the bread, and it cuts through it smoothly. Do stay alert when handling and cleaning: it is sharp!
What a fantastic bread knife. The knife cuts effortlessly through a croissant and sourdough bread. A really good purchase!
